Taco Bell is set to discontinue its breakfast menu in select locations starting this October. The fast-food chain announced that the change, aimed at supporting franchise growth, will impact a limited number of restaurants, leaving fans in those areas without their morning favorites.
Taco Bell to Phase Out Breakfast in Select Locations, Shifting Focus to Daytime Menu Favorites
Consumers may consider other Mexican-inspired options for their morning meals as Taco Bell begins phasing out its breakfast menu in select locations.
Some mornings feel like cooking, especially when waking up hungry. For those who usually rely on Taco Bell for breakfast, it might be time to reconsider. The fast-food chain plans to discontinue its breakfast offerings in specific locations.
Taco Bell announced that this menu change would only affect a limited number of its restaurants. However, fans in those areas will soon have to say goodbye to beloved breakfast items such as the bacon crunch wrap, crispy hash browns, and cheesy toasted burrito.
To streamline menus, some franchise-owned Taco Bell restaurants have chosen to stop serving breakfast. This change is expected to take effect in October. According to the company, the decision supports the franchises' growth, with the focus shifting to what the local community desires rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
The number of restaurants impacted by this menu change has yet to be disclosed, but 500 company-owned locations will continue serving Mexican-inspired breakfast options.
Taco Bell acknowledged the popularity of its breakfast items, noting that the simple yet crave-able offerings contributed significantly to the breakfast menu's strong performance in Q2 2024.
Taco Bell expects other daytime menu items, such as the Cantina Chicken Menu, to take center stage in the locations where breakfast will no longer be served. These locations will still open at 9 a.m. or earlier, offering the remaining menu items. Coffee will remain available, mainly as Taco Bell enhances its coffee program.
Taco Bell Tests New Tex-Mex Creations Like Toasted Cheddar Chalupa and Cheesy Dipping Burritos
Before the discontinuation of breakfast in some locations, Taco Bell may have already begun its menu transformation by testing new items. Here’s a preview of Tex-Mex food that might soon see a nationwide rollout:
- Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupa - This exciting menu item was reportedly tested in Houston before the end of summer. It features two street-sized chalupa shells toasted in cheddar cheese, with a choice of slow-roasted Cantina Chicken or grilled steak. Each chalupa is topped with onions, cilantro, Chile Lime Crema sauce, and cheddar cheese.
- Cheesy Dipping Burritos - Taco Bell is introducing more savory goodness with its cheesy dipping burritos. This new item includes two burritos with rice and seasoned beef paired with nacho cheese sauce for dipping. This release, currently being tested at select locations in Detroit, Michigan, is Taco Bell's attempt to make its meals more engaging and interactive.
