Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo Introduces Pasticcini Flight, an Italian-Inspired Afternoon Tea Experience
Despite its high price tag, the new Pasticcini Flight is still expected to sell out.
Starbucks is known for its inventive menu offerings in Japan, and the coffee chain has once again sparked excitement with the announcement of a special afternoon tea exclusively at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Tokyo.
Dubbed the Roastery Pasticcini Flight, this afternoon tea experience will be available at the Roastery’s Teavana bar. It will feature a selection of sweet pastries, or “pasticcini” in Italian, from the Princi bakery on the ground floor.
According to SoraNews24, this unique Italian twist on a traditional afternoon tea includes bite-sized cakes and baked goods infused with autumnal flavors, three entirely new. One standout item is the "Mele," an eye-catching treat topped with apple-shaped caramelized jelly, sitting on a delicate noodle-like pastry crafted from finely shredded phyllo dough known as kadai.
Indulge in Starbucks Tokyo's Rum Raisin Fromage and Vignolata Pastries with Rich Autumn Flavors
Another fresh addition is the Rum Raisin Fromage, a delectable combination of cream cheese, white chocolate mousse, and a crumbly, salty dough. Topped with rum-soaked raisins, which enrich the mousse, this dessert delivers hints of cinnamon and cloves for a comforting autumn flavor.
The third new delight is the Vignolata, a sweet Italian pastry filled with caramel-flavored buttercream and homemade praline. The choux pastry, or “bigne,” offers a combination of creamy, nutty flavors and layered textures in each bite.
Alongside the three new pastries, the afternoon tea set features five more bite-sized cakes and three savory items. To complement the assortment, guests can choose from various richly flavored teas, including Kagabo Hojicha (a roasted green tea), Spice Apple Cider, Citrus Lavender Sage, and Rwandan Black Tea.
Though afternoon teas are typically expensive, this set is priced at 6,050 yen (approximately US$42.73). Despite the cost, the set is expected to sell out quickly, given the success of Starbucks’ first-afternoon tea in 2021, which sold out within an hour at the then-expensive price of 4,620 yen.
To meet the anticipated demand, the Pasticcini Flight will be served in 90-minute time slots at 1, 3, and 5 p.m. each day. Reservations are strongly encouraged, as only a limited number of sets will be available from October 1-31. Customers might miss out on this exclusive tea experience without reservation and turn to an autumnal cocktail at the bar instead.
