'Solo Leveling' Release Date, Cast, Spoilers and Theories: Everything We Know So Far

Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming "Solo Leveling" anime series.

The hugely popular South Korean webcomic “Solo Leveling” is getting an anime adaptation, and fans are overjoyed. For those who are unfamiliar, “Solo Leveling” is set in a version of our planet in which superpowered “hunters” are despatched to combat swarms of monsters that have begun to appear all over the land.

Chugong originally wrote the story, which was later illustrated by the late Jang Sung-rak (aka Dubu). It may appear to be a typical power fantasy, but its excellent pacing and world-building have made it a worldwide success. Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming “Solo Leveling” anime series.

Solo Leveling’ Release Date

The anime adaptation of “Solo Leveling” was initially scheduled to debut in 2023, but has now been moved back to the Winter of 2024, as stated at the end of its first teaser video, per Digital Spy. If you're not up to speed on your anime calendar, avid followers of the manga won't have to wait until next November. Instead, fans anticipate that the show will premiere in January 2024.

Solo Leveling’ Cast

A-1 Pictures is producing the anime adaptation of “Solo Leveling,” which previously produced the “Nier: Automata” adaption and “Mashle: Magic and Muscles.” Aside from that, the studio's most recent triumph has been their work on “Kaguya-sama: Love Is War?” franchise.

The forthcoming anime series also has some excellent talent behind it, with Shunsuke Nakashige and Noboru Kimura serving as chief director and head writer, respectively. Hiroyuki Sawano, the mind behind some amazing music in “Attack on Titan” and “Kill la Kill,” is also composing the show's score.

The imminent “Solo Leveling” anime series has also revealed its first cast members, albeit no information on overseas dubs has been released. The current Japanese voice cast is as follows: Sung Jinwoo/Shun Mizushino voiced by Taito Ban; Cha Hae-In/Shizuku Kosaka voiced by Reina Ueda; Baek Yoonho/Taiga Shirakawa voiced by Hiroki Touchi; Yoo Jinho/Kenta Morohishi voiced by Genta Nakamura; Chōi Jong-In/Shin Mogami voiced by Daisuke Hirakawa; Go Gunhee/Kiyoomi Gotō voiced by Banjou Ginga; and Woo Jinchui/Akira Inukai voiced by Makoto Furukawa.

Solo Leveling’ Spoilers and Theories

If you're new to “Solo Leveling,” its development and release history may be perplexing, per Radio Times. The narrative was first serialized as a novel in 2016, before being transformed into a weekly webtoon.

The 179th and final installment of the webtoon, illustrated by the late Dubu, was published in December 2021. As a result, if the planned “Solo Leveling” anime adaptation will push through, the complete narrative could be adapted across numerous seasons.

The tale is deceptively simple, allowing the superb action and timing to come through. The plot revolves around Sun Jinwoo, a South Korean student who has been certified as the weakest hunter, one of a small group of people who have been given extraordinary skills and are entrusted with fighting terrible creatures that are appearing all over the planet.

Sun Jinwoo is nearly murdered during a fateful mission, but awakens with the capacity to actively increase his “level.” He then trains to overcome his reputation as the world's weakest hunter, with the tale employing old video game tropes and cliches to introduce new hurdles and personalities along the way.
