Prince Harry's Feud With Royal Family Could Last a Lifetime, Duke May Suffer Same Fate as King Edward VIII: Royal Author

Prince Harry has been given the same cold shoulder after stepping down as a working royal in 2020.

The feud between Prince Harry and his family could last forever if history tells us anything, a royal author claimed. Tom Quinn stated that the husband of Meghan Markle could suffer the same fate as his great-uncle.

Prince Harry’s Rift With Royal Family Could Last Forever

Speaking with Daily Express US, “Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family” author Tom Quinn said that the problem of Prince Harry has a “direct parallel” to that of his great-uncle, King Edward VIII. In 1936, King Edward abdicated the monarchy in order to marry American Wallis Simpson. Soon after, George VI, Queen Elizabeth's father, ascended to the throne.

King Edward's decision to marry Simpson, as well as her divorce status, triggered a constitutional crisis that led to his resignation. Despite standing down as King, Edward expected to maintain a significant role within the Firm -- he was greatly misled.

"It caused such a break in relations between the new King and the late Queen mother that the rift lasted for the rest of their lives. It caused this terrible gulf because both sides felt betrayed. Edward just realized that by giving away his role in life, he wouldn't automatically be given some other job. That was almost as important. He would just be cut off,” Tom Quinn stated.

Prince Harry has been given the same cold shoulder after stepping down as a working royal in 2020 to pursue a life of freedom with his American wife, Meghan Markle.

"Harry thought that when he went to America, and certainly after the Queen died, Charles would would say: 'Okay, you can be working royals for half the year.’ But after the Oprah interview and the book Spare, Harry's going to end up exactly like his great uncle living in France bored with nothing to do,” Tom furthered.

King Edward spent the rest of his life in France after the Second World War. He married Wallis till his death in 1972; they had no children. "I think this rift is going to be very difficult to heal", Tom said.

To recall, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 caused a stir. During the interview, the “Suits” alum implied that a member of the Royal Family was prejudiced against her.

Despite Prince Harry's attempts to retract the claims in a subsequent interview, the damage had been done. The final blow was delivered. “Spare,” Prince Harry's tell-all memoir published earlier this year, was riddled with shocking revelations about his family.

Prince Harry Told to ‘Accept’ He’s Out of Royal Fold

Meanwhile, one royal author claims that Prince Harry must "accept the realities" of his family's current situation in order to avoid becoming the "problem child." It comes more than three years after Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle made the contentious choice to resign as working royals and relocate to the United States, per Daily Express.

After relocating to the United States, it became clear that the couple's reason would be to expose the inner workings of royal life. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s now-famous 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, their six-part Netflix documentary, and Harry's autobiography all pushed the monarchy on the defensive, raising challenging concerns about race and historical heritage.

"I think that there's a relationship of sorts still existing, and that will probably mature as they both themselves mature,” Clive Irving shared. "They can just accept the realities of the moment and hope that these will improve," he added.
