MINNEAPOLIS, April 07, 2016 -- Skyline Medical Inc. (NASDAQ:SKLN) (“Skyline” or “the Company”) today announced that it will be a co-exhibitor at the 2016 annual meeting of the Association of Veterans Affairs Surgeons (AVAS) in Virginia Beach, VA on April 10th - 12th, 2016. Representatives from both Skyline and its Federal channel distributor, MUNRO Enterprises LLC will demonstrate the Company’s STREAMWAY System, to surgeons and other industry decision makers at the event.
“Exhibiting at AVAS is a great opportunity to demonstrate the extensive benefits of the STREAMWAY System to surgeons that are looking to improve patient care and surgical practices in the VA,” explained Josh Kornberg, CEO of Skyline Medical. “We believe that we could gain meaningful sales traction in the VA health care system, having already found prior success selling to a Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Michigan where our fluid management system saves our customer thousands of dollars each year and creates a safer operating environment for both patients and staff. The VA health care system is the largest integrated health care system in the United States, serving millions of veterans each year. Expanding our sales reach to other VA medical centers nationwide would be a great growth driver for Skyline Medical and we are therefore delighted to be invited to exhibit at the AVAS conference.”
The AVAS annual meeting is attended by general, oncologic, peripheral vascular, endovascular, thoracic, cardiac, wound care, and critical care surgeons as well as anesthesia providers from VA hospitals throughout the United States. Many university-based surgeons, surgery residents, and medical students from programs with VA affiliations typically attend this meeting. AVAS anticipates approximately 180 surgeons and 25 exhibitors will attend, many with significant authority and responsibility in their respective VISN Networks. About Skyline Medical Inc.
Skyline Medical Inc. produces a fully automated, patented, FDA-cleared, waste fluid disposal system that virtually eliminates staff exposure to blood, irrigation fluid and other potentially infectious fluids found in the healthcare environment. Antiquated manual fluid handling methods — which require hand carrying and emptying filled fluid canisters — present an exposure risk and potential liability. Skyline Medical's STREAMWAY System fully automates the collection, measurement and disposal of waste fluids and is designed to: 1) reduce overhead costs to hospitals and surgical centers, 2) improve compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) and other regulatory agency safety guidelines, 3) improve efficiency in the operating room, and radiology and endoscopy departments — leading to greater profitability, and 4) provide greater environmental stewardship by helping to eliminate the approximately 50 million potentially disease-infected canisters that go into landfills annually in the United States.
