Casting call for two new roles in “Riverdale” season 5 has surfaced online. It reiterates the planned timeskip and suggests Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) will each be involved in unhappy relationships as adults.
‘Riverdale’ season 5 spoilers: 2 new characters are Jughead’s new girlfriend and Veronica’s husband
The fourth season of the popular teen drama series ended earlier than planned last May due to COVID-19. The good news is the unaired episodes will be included as the opening for “Riverdale” season 5 before the time jump takes place.
Fans should prepare to see the characters in their 20s once the timeskip happens in “Riverdale” season 5, and one of the things they will be dealing with are problems in more committed relationships. The reported casting call reveals the production is looking to add two new actors.
One of them would be named Jessica, who is described as Jughead’s “train-wreck-y hipster” girlfriend. It was also mentioned that the couple is already living together in “Riverdale” season 5. But Jessica is no longer hoping for the relationship to have any future as she feels less of a priority compared to Jughead’s book project.
Veronica will be in an even more serious relationship as the second reported role debuting in “Riverdale” season 5 is going to be her husband named Chad. Also in his 20s, the new character is described as “controlling and neurotic” who works on Wall Street. However, he will be involved in some “shady deals” that lead to life-threatening situations so it is interesting how that will affect Veronica in the upcoming season.
The casting calls for Veronica’s and Jughead’s partners also reiterate that the main characters will no longer be in high school in “Riverdale” season 5. While the producers hoped the timeskip will be the opening of the fifth installment, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa hinted that it will start after a few episodes in season 5 to give way for the unreleased season 4 episodes.
‘Riverdale’ season 5 release date returns to January schedule in 2021
The COVID-19 pandemic has also disrupted the annual production timeline of the show. A new season usually premieres in October, but as Lili Reinhart confirmed in a recent appearance at “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” filming for “Riverdale” season 5 has yet to start.
TV Line reported that “Riverdale” season 5 has been added to the shows that will premiere on The CW in January 2021. New episodes will be released every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.
