The favorite adult animation is coming back for another season, and this was already confirmed since 2018. Fans will see the grandfather and grandson duo again in their new explorations in this sci-fi series that has been airing since 2013.

Needless to say, “Rick and Morty” season 5 is anticipated, but fans are hoping that their waiting time will not be as bad as with the fourth season. It can be recalled that they waited for two years for just 10 episodes of the show.

The show creators, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, also promised that this will not happen again since the early renewal has given them enough time to their works in advance. At any rate, when “Rick and Morty” season 5 airs, fans have wild theories about what can happen next.

Rick Sanchez’s clone theory

It can’t be helped that the viewers who religiously followed the show have their own guesses as to what “Rick and Morty” season 5 will offer. Since they know the story and familiar with how the writers write the stories, they suggested that Rick Sanchez that has been appearing is not the real one.

As per Express, Rick’s actual body is being kept somewhere, and it was himself who imprisoned the mad scientist. This is suggesting that the Rick that the viewers are seeing is just a clone, and the real one was locked up.

It was added that he has not one but several clones of himself in storage as well. However, his original body and these clones are being kept in a different place, with Rick’s body probably imprisoned in another dimension.

Also, on Reddit, one fan explained why this theory about Rick’s clone could be true. “I was watching episode 7 of season 2, Big Trouble in Little Sanchez, where Rick transforms himself into a teenager and preserves his actual body in his lab,” he wrote.

Another one shared his observation that also made him think that Rick is a clone. “Rick isn’t in his real body, if you watched season 3 episode 1 and season 4 episode 1 where rick either changes body or gets a clone body,” he wrote on the thread.

At any rate, it was already confirmed in season 4 that Rick’s daughter Beth has a clone too. In “Rick and Morty” season 5, the two Beths are expected to appear together and get to know more about each other.

Preview and release date

Meanwhile, it was announced on July 21 that Adult Swim is set to unveil sneak peek of “Rick and Morty” season 5. This event is part of the Adult Swim Con that will be held from July 24.

This is a virtual activity so fans from all over the world can get a glimpse of what to expect when it arrives. As for the release date, “Rick and Morty” season 5 is predicted to premiere some time next year or later this year.
