It would appear that the Xbox One X Version of the upcoming “Rage 2” game is going to be buttery smooth on the console. It was just reported that the open-world FPS will run at 60FPS on the Microsoft game box, which should prove to be good news to those looking forward to playing it. So far, it would seem that the hype for those game is high, especially with the shotgun cannon promising plenty of carnage.
As Windows Central reports, “Rage 2” is expected to run quite smoothly on the Xbox One X once it launches. For those who may not be aware of what it is, this is basically a sequel to a game set in a post-apocalyptic universe where plenty of driving and shooting can be expected. For the second game in the franchise, fans can expect a lot of flying, as well.
Sitting down with Hardcore Gamer recently was Tim Willits, the studio director over at id Software. The discussions revolved around the post-production plans with regards to “Rage 2” and how it is expected to perform on gaming consoles. Based on what he said on the matter, the studio went all out in making the game as versatile as possible.
“To make it simple, on the enhanced consoles, it runs at 1080p 60 FPS. On base hardware, it runs at 30 FPS. On PC, it's uncapped. We went for speed over 4K for the enhanced consoles,” he said.
Now, it’s worth pointing out that this is good news and bad news for those looking forward to playing “Rage 2” on consoles. On the one hand, it’s great that they can still expect 60FPS even with the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro being enhanced. However, it’s not exactly encouraging for the game boxes to only go up to 1080p while offering this option. Many modern widescreen TVs now look a bit smudgy at that resolution.
