Prince William and Kate Middleton brought their three children - Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2 to a park one evening in the U.K. Prince Edward and Countess of Wessex Sophie and their teen children were also with the Cambridges and most people who spotted the royal families were disappointed as they broke a COVID-19 protocol.
The family outing that broke the rules
Prince William is being criticized because many believe they ignored the government-imposed restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic. In particular, the family was said to have broken the “Rule of Six” protocol, which prohibits the gathering of people if they are more than six in the group.
As per the Daily Mail, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their kids had a night out with Prince Edward and his family at an attraction in Sandringham. They are a group of nine people who walk around a trail walk on Queen Elizabeth’s property. Since they are more than six, they obviously did not follow the “Rule of Six”; thus, the public has been voicing out their disappointment.
“They were clearly breaking Covid rules, in my opinion, because there were nine of them from two separate households,” a witness who was also in the park said. “They were obviously all having a fun evening out. You could tell that the royal youngsters were having a great time.”
The Cambridges and the Wessexes visited the Luminate Sandringham on Sunday, and they were photographed by people who saw them that night. The place is a mile-long path that is open to the public until mid-January.
Visitors can enjoy a scenic stroll along the Christmas-decorated illuminated trail and sit down around a fire pit. There are also stalls that offer holiday food and drink.
The palace comments on the royal family’s outing
Royal sources clarified that Prince William and Kate Middleton have no intention of breaking any COVID-19 rules. They said that the two families did not arrive in Sandringham together, and they only saw one another when they were already there.
They did not intend to meet up and stroll as a party of nine. They were given separate slots and received consecutive schedules, so they met while strolling. They reiterated that the families arrived and departed in their own family groups.
