“Power” season 7 is anticipated after the drama concluded with an unfortunate ending. Then again, fans should take note that this will not be a continuation of the series since that chapter has ended already. Rather, fans will be treated to a series of sequels that will tackle the story of some key characters of the drama.
Sequel titles
“Power” season 7 will begin with the backstory about the main protagonist, James “Ghost” St. Patrick. The first part has been titled “Power Book II: Ghost,” and this one of the spin-offs that Starz will be releasing in the coming months. TV Line reported that in the first two sequels, show creator Courtney Kemp said that it would be about the strong female characters.
“I have really strong female characters in a way that I am trying to push even further than what we had in the original ‘Power,’” Kemp told the outlet. “Mary J. Blige’s character is super strong and interesting, and the same is true of the lead characters in the next spinoff after that. I think women, especially women of color, but all women, are going to find really great inspiration while watching as we move forward.”
After the first sequel, it will be followed by “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” “Power Book IV: Influence,” and “Power Book V: Force.” These three stories will feature Kanan, Tate, and Tommy’s stories. It can be their backstory, or it will show what happened to their characters after “Power” season 6.
Plot and characters
As per Entertainment Weekly, the official synopsis of "Power Book II: Ghost” reads: “It will pick up the narrative just days after the ‘Power’ finale. The sequel then follows Tariq navigating his new life, in which his desire to shed his father's legacy comes up against the mounting pressure to save his family."
Also, based on the trailer, Tasha will be in prison at this time, while Tariq tries to live normally. The clip confirmed that Naturi Naughton (Tasha), Michael Rainey Jr. (Tariq), Shane Johnson (Cooper Saxe) are starring in the first sequel to “Power” season 6. Mary J. Blige will be back as Monet while Davis MacClean will join the cast as Smith, an ethically challenged lawyer.
Release date
It was stated on the promo video that “Power Book II: Ghost” will be released on Starz this summer. While there was no exact date in the post, it was predicted that it will be out on June 14.
