The upcoming chapter 985 of “One Piece” will be delayed, so there is no release this week. Fans want this as soon as possible because the turn of events is getting really interesting. For one, betrayal killed someone, and this happened on the villains’ side.
Also, as Kaido’s child entered the picture, another betrayal is bound to happen as he is leaning more on the side of Straw Hats Pirates. In fact, he has become closer to Luffy already, and they seem to share the same goal of making Oden’s dying wish to open Wano come true.
Recap of the previous chapter
Chapter 984, titled “My Bible,” revealed that Yamato saw how Oden was executed two decades ago. He told Luffy that after witnessing that, he wanted to be like him, so from then on, he started to do things that will help him achieve his goal.
He even dresses up like Oden, and as it turned out that “he” is actually a female, Yamato did not just dress up like a man, but he also introduces himself as a man. Kaido learned about his daughter’s goal, but even if Oden is his enemy, he didn’t stop Yamato from doing what she likes and even allowed her to be identified as a male.
Spoilers - The betrayals in Onigashima
Previously, Kaido suddenly announced about the Onigashima Project, which puzzled Orochi because it’s the first time, he is hearing about it. It turned out that Kaido deliberately excluded him in his plans because he doesn’t think he needed Orochi anymore.
As posted on Reddit’s discussion board for “One Piece” chapter 985 spoilers, Kaido will betray and kill Orochi in the end. It was also mentioned that Kaido wants to make Yamatothe the leader of new Wano that he is aiming to build.
The Onigashima Project is also about changing Wano into a country that will wage war against other countries, destroy peace, and make the land the greatest place in the world. It was also stated that Kaido only joined forces with Big Mom so he can acquire One Piece and all the ancient weapons.
Elsewhere in “One Piece” chapter 985, Yamato told Luffy that he got the exploding handcuff when he was only eight years old, and it was his heartless father who put it on him. Luffy said that he can take the handcuffs off and he did.
At last, Yamato was freed from it after 20 years. He then told Luffy that they should kick Kaido's ass and make him pay for all the beatings they received from him in the past.
Lastly, it was mentioned that Yamato met Portgas Ace, the former Whitebeard Pirates second-division commander, and he narrated to Luffy what they did together in the old days.
