Jordan Brand Unveils Heir 1.0, a Unisex Basketball Shoe Designed with Insights from Women Athletes
According to Sneaker News, Jordan Brand is set to release a new unisex basketball shoe, the Jordan Heir 1.0. First glimpsed earlier this summer, the newly released official images offer the most detailed look yet, suggesting that the shoe's launch might be imminent.
Women athletes within the Jordan Brand played a significant role in the design of the Heir 1.0, incorporating their on-court insights into the shoe’s development. With the rising popularity of the WNBA, Nike Inc. appears to be focusing on unisex basketball shoes, following the success of the Nike Sabrina 2. The introduction of the Heir 1.0 by Jumpman could begin a new trend in the basketball shoe market.
According to Jordan Brand, athlete Kiki Rice was instrumental in providing insights from the women’s game, although the Heir 1.0 is designed to be suitable for any player. The shoe features a mixed-media upper reminiscent of Russell Westbrook’s line, with two different types of mesh on the toe box and lower quarter, complemented by leather panels near the forefoot and eyelets.
The standout design element is a wrap-around TPU cage that connects the eyelets to the outsole. The shoe also includes full-length foam and herringbone traction underfoot. While the performance specs have yet to be fully unveiled, the "Grey/White" colorway, with cream-colored mesh, presents an elegant introduction to the new model.
Although the exact release date is still unknown, the Jordan Heir 1.0 is expected to launch in late September before the end of the WNBA regular season. The Jordan Release Dates hub will provide updates as more details emerge.
