Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse is opening its doors to customers in South Korea soon. The restaurant’s launch in the country was made possible via the collaboration of the US-based Cornerstone Restaurant Group and Mohegan Inspire.
The companies extend their partnership via the global expansion of four restaurant concepts as part of Mohefan Inspire’s business in South Korea. They will be introducing four food and beverage brands that include Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse.
The Korea Economic Daily reported that the other restaurant to arrive in the country is the MJ23 Sports Bar and Grill. As the mentioned restaurants’ names imply, they are dining places built in cooperation with the famous National Basketball Association (NBA) star, Michael Jordan. In any case, the two other concepts are new and original - and these are the Hi-Fi Chicken & Beer and Brasserie 1783.
This will be the first time that Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse and MJ23 Sports Bar and Grill are opening stores outside of the United States. All the restaurants are set to be inaugurated inside the Mohegan Inspire resorts. In Korea, this is located in the International Business District (IBC) which sits close to the Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport.
Currently, the Phase 1A of the Mohegan Inspire resort is expected to be completed within the fourth quarter of 2023. The overall completion rate by this time is said to be about 83% and it will feature three 5-star hotels with a combined 1,275 guestrooms, an indoor water dome, an arena with 15,000 seating capacity, a convention facility, and more.
"Mohegan has enjoyed such a remarkable and productive relationship with Cornerstone Restaurant Group and we're so thrilled about this new venture we're working on for Mohegan INSPIRE," Mohegan’s president and chief executive officer, Ray Pineault, said in a press release. "Michael Jordan's Steak House and the MJ23 Sports Bar & Grill are two of our most popular restaurants at our flagship property, Mohegan Sun, in Connecticut, and to bring these two concepts to South Korea, along with brand-new concepts as well, is very exciting."
Joshua Zadikoff, president of Cornerstone, added, “This is a project a long time in the making and it's something we're so proud to be part of and we have always had plans to make our concepts international.”
