First Lady Melania Trump has been making her presence known to the public as Americans cope with the extended social distancing period until the end of April. Recently, she released a video message showing her gratitude and appreciation to the healthcare workers who are at the frontlines of the pandemic.
Time reports that the First Lady sent a brief video message to the health workers and responders at the front lines. “It is because of you that the people of America are receiving the care and treatment they need. We stand united with you and we salute your courageous and compassionate efforts. Our prayers are with all who are fighting this invisible enemy, COVID19,” said Melania in the video, recorded outside the balcony of the White House.
Melania has previously reiterated the need for Americans to wear protective face coverings or face masks when going to public places as well as taking social distancing seriously. She has mentioned this need twice on social media, including retweeting the advice given by the experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The First Lady has also previously recorded video announcements on the guidelines issued for the social distancing period that forced the majority of Americans to stay indoors, non-essential businesses to suspend operations or have employees work remotely, and the suspension of classes in schools. Some schools have since resorted to pushing through with the school year online instead.
The First Lady has also previously shared some of her suggestions to families and Americans on how to cope with this period.
In other related news, to further show her appreciation towards the front-line workers in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, Melania will be handing out 25,000 commemorative wooden Easter eggs to children’s’ hospitals, government agencies, aid groups, and grocery store chains.
These eggs were originally supposed to be given away at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll but the long-running tradition would be put to a halt this year out of concerns regarding large gatherings. The commemorative eggs will be handed out to the respective organizations and groups on Wednesday and Thursday.
