BOULDER, Colo., Feb. 19, 2018 -- It was 1988 when Susan McCrossin discovered a non-invasive, drug-free method of eradicating most types of learning disabilities in children and adults.
And now, 30 years later, she and her network of practitioners in The McCrossin Technique have treated more than 10,000 children and adults suffering from attention deficit disorder, hyper activity attention deficit disorder and dyslexia – with a near perfect record of eliminating and eradicating those disorders.
For her 30th anniversary, Susan is leading a movement to eliminate learning disabilities in hundreds of thousands of sufferers nationwide and eventually worldwide.
That movement is important because The National Center for Learning Disabilities reports that one in five children in the U.S. has some form of a learning disability.
Susan recalls that as a computer specialist working in her native Australia in the early 1980s, she realized that she wanted to accomplish more in life and “do something more humanitarian.”
She discovered an Arizona program focusing on the study of the healing properties of neuropressure on the brain and body, became intrigued, traveled to Arizona and enrolled. After graduation and back in Australia, Susan’s and a local child psychologist were able to double, triple and quadruple the WISC (Wechsler Intelligence Scale) scores for children they treated together. “That’s when I knew I had hit on something that was truly amazing,” she recalls.
Later, after earning double advanced degrees in Neuroscience and Psychology at Australia’s prestigious Swinburne University, and growing her practice in the treatment of learning disabilities, Susan came to Boulder in 1998 on vacation and stayed. That year, she founded The Crossinology Institute.
Her practice of The McCrossin Technique identifies disconnections in the neuro-pathways in the brain caused by stress early in life and reconnects them.
“We are emotional beings, first and foremost, and we really do respond to what happens to us emotionally,” Susan says. “There’s no better feeling in the world than to have a child failing in school come back, look you in the eye, and tell you they got 10 out of 10 on a spelling test for the first time in their lives. That changes him. Can you imagine the ripple effect of that change on the world, if everyone could reach their potential? I see miracles every day.”
