“Marvel’s Avengers” has yet to be released for everyone, but fans might already have something close to a confirmation that there will be a DLC in the pipeline. Post-credit scenes can now be watched online revealing the potential conflict that the superheroes will face and who will be the next main villain.
‘Marvel’s Avengers’ spoilers: Game’s ending spreads online ahead of official release
Full gameplay walkthrough videos of the final challenge and boss fight are already available online before the official release date of “Marvel’s Avengers.” These are not exactly leaks, though as they more likely come from gamers who have Early Access privileges from pre-ordering digital editions of “Marvel’s Avengers.”
As expected, the final boss fight happens between Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and MODOK. Kamala appears in time to save Bruce Banner from MODOK. The latter goes on a rant about eliminating Inhumans and insists he is doing the world a favor. Realizing MODOK is hopeless, Kamala uses all her power to defeat the villain. The final sequence of the “Marvel’s Avengers” gameplay shows Kamala coming home and reuniting with her Abu. She is grounded, but her father agrees she could continue going to her “special trips” that will be kept a secret from her mother.
‘Marvel’s Avengers’ post-credits scenes build up the plot for DLC expansion
Most Marvel films have two post-credit scenes, and that also applies to “Marvel’s Avengers.” The first one is set shortly after the defeat of MODOK. It shows a corporate committee in the middle of a meeting being presided by an unknown woman, who is later revealed to be Monica Rappaccini, promising that the recent events in San Francisco will not hinder AIM’s operations. Then, an escape pod shoots up in the air from the Kree that MODOK used in the final boss fight with Kamala.
The second “Marvel’s Avengers” post-credit scene features the original Avengers in a phone call with SHIELD’s Commander Hill. The latter confirms that Monica becomes the new leader of A.I.M. and that their intel suggests the company is aiming to work on cloning technology and use cosmic energy.
Some of Hill’s parting words are, “If our intel is right, we’re going to need all the help we can get. ... We’ve got a big job ahead of us.” These statements and the post-credit scenes are as good as confirmations that “Marvel’s Avengers” will have an expansion (or maybe even a sequel) where more superheroes are anticipated to be added as playable characters. The action-adventure game will be released for non-Early Access players on Friday, Sept. 4 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
