SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 30, 2017 -- “Our students are our main priority,” said Jason Gaunt, director of technology systems for Kokomo School Corporation. “With NetApp, we can be sure that students have access to the technologies they need to learn, while our teachers and administrators have access to the information they need to do their jobs and better support our students.”
Like many K-12 districts, Kokomo School Corporation, headquartered in Indiana, must balance limited resources with an ever-increasing dependence on technology. The growing number of teachers using online tools and applications to personalize instruction, coupled with the district’s goal to provide every student with a computing device by fall 2018, compelled the district’s IT staff to find a flexible, all-flash solution.
Partnering with Presidio, Kokomo School Corporation modernized its data center and replaced its older third-party storage with a FlexPod® Datacenter converged infrastructure from Cisco and NetApp® (NASDAQ:NTAP) using NetApp All Flash FAS arrays. As a result, students no longer need to wait on technology to obtain information and assignments. Teachers and administrators enjoy faster access to email and student data. They can spend less time waiting and processing information online and more time interacting with students.
In addition, the Kokomo IT team is now more responsive to the administrators, teachers, and students. In the past, the IT team had to set aside time to provide resources for new IT projects. Now they can spin up specialized servers almost on demand. Because Kokomo can deploy resources quicker, they can also do it more often. With a smaller IT footprint and consolidated storage silos and applications, they can grow more efficiently while preserving their existing investments by integrating the solution easily with the existing system. And with a faster testing environment in place, they can quickly find products to better serve their students.
With its new solution, Kokomo has:
- Reduced IT footprint and accelerated responsiveness
- Maximized utilization of existing resources by creating a more efficient use of space
- Eliminated performance concerns, allowing teachers and administrators to spend more time interacting with students
