Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is on the last stretch of campaigning as there are hours to go until election day. After visiting a church in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, the former vice president was met by anti-abortion protesters.
On the last Sunday before election day on November 3, Biden was met by a few pro-life anti-abortion protesters outside the church in Delaware where his son Beau Biden is buried. The protesters were two women and one man, all three of whom were holding signs and chanted that Biden repent for his soul and his son’s soul. The demonstrators also called Biden a “disgrace” to his Catholic faith with one of the signs the women carried said that no Catholic should cast their votes towards the former vice president. Another sign said, “Joe Biden equals abortion, euthanasia, and infanticide.”
Following his visit to the church in Delaware, Biden traveled to Pennsylvania, a state he needs to win over in order to win the presidency. The Democratic nominee appeared in two campaign events in Philadelphia, one in Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park and the other in a Baptist church for a Souls to the Polls event.
With 20 electoral college votes in the state, Pennsylvania helped secure Donald Trump’s victory back in 2016. This year, Biden seeks to turn the votes to his favor as he goes against the Republican incumbent. Philadelphia also happens to be an important base of Democratic support. His running mate, Senator Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff will also be in Pennsylvania on Monday. Biden’s wife, former second lady Jill Biden will also be campaigning for him on the same day.
Many have already reminded voters both in the US and all over the world of the importance of this year’s elections. Public figures have already warned of how high the stakes are should Trump get reelected for a second term or if Biden defeats Trump. It is especially high for someone in the United Kingdom, having placed a massive bet of $1.29 million on Biden winning against Trump in the elections.
Should Biden win on election day, the person who placed the bet would also win an additional $696,170 on top of the $1.29 million that will be returned to him.
