Joe Biden may be leading in the polls, but the presumptive Democratic nominee has yet to build up enough cash to match Donald Trump and the Republicans in the presidential race. In an effort to further draw in figures from the entertainment industry, the former vice president will be having another star-studded fundraiser.
Deadline reports Jay Leno will be hosting another virtual fundraiser for the Biden campaign, and this time, more celebrities will be making their appearance. The event, titled Celebration for Change, will be taking place online next Sunday. Ticket prices per person will range from $15 to $1,000, and the money will go to the Biden Victory Fund, which is the joint committee of the Biden campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
This time around, popular celebrities like Barbra Streisand, Rob Reiner, John Legend, Sara Bareilles, Dustin Lance Black, Titus Burgess, Karamo, Kristin Chenoweth, Julianne Moore, Jane Krakowski, Michael MicElry & the Broadway Chorus among many other public figures.
Leno, along with Streisand, Legend, Day, Jennifer Hudson, previously hosted a fundraiser event for Joe Biden back in June. 600 guests were in attendance. A month prior, Senator Tammy Duckworth and Whoopi Goldberg also hosted a fundraiser event for the Biden campaign, featuring a handful of celebrities such as Sheryl Crow, Jimmy Buffett, Joe Walsh, Rufus Wainwright, and David Crosby in attendance.
As the election day draws near, Biden has slowly but surely unveiled his plans and policies that he has pledged to commit to should he win in November. One of those plans he recently revealed was to lift the travel ban on predominantly Muslim countries (which now includes Venezuela and North Korea and six more countries since then), something that Trump acted on during his first month since getting sworn into the presidency back in 2017. Biden pledges to overturn that ban on his first day as president.
Biden revealed this plan upon speaking to the Muslim American advocacy group Engage Action, which has aimed to get as many voters as possible, especially focusing on the swing states. “Muslim communities were the first to feel Donald Trump’s assault on black and brown communities in this country with his vile Muslim ban. That fight was the opening barrage in what has nearly been four years of constant pressure and insults, and attacks against Muslim American communities,” said the former vice president.
