HACKENSACK, N.J., Feb. 17, 2017 -- Pashman Stein Walder Hayden announces that Jennifer A. Borg, former General Counsel and Vice President for North Jersey Media Group Inc., at the time New Jersey’s largest publisher of newspapers, will join the firm on February 20, 2017, in their Hackensack, NJ, headquarters. Borg is an expert in media law and has worked extensively on first amendment and right of access issues. Borg also handled the company’s litigation and transactional matters.
Borg was the top woman listed on PolitickerNJ’s 2015 Power 100 List, showcasing New Jersey’s most influential people, underscoring her substantial impact as a fierce advocate of open and transparent government. In 2014, she successfully litigated many cases under New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act helping The Record in its award-winning breaking news coverage of “Bridgegate.”
“Joining Pashman Stein Walder Hayden is a natural fit for me in more ways than one,” said Borg, who is also the great-granddaughter of the original owner of The Record. “Both of my grandfathers knew Justice Pashman, and served with him on committees here in Bergen County, and my father and I have had a longstanding professional relationship with the firm. Since the Pashman Stein / Walder Hayden merger, a year ago, I view the firm as the pre-eminent litigation firm in the state. PSWH now has an extraordinarily deep bench on both the civil and criminal sides,” she added.
“Ms. Borg has a long history with New Jersey’s most storied newspaper, The Record. She has consistently supported the paper’s high standards for quality and independent journalism; shining the light on government with her OPRA expertise, critical in this era of fake news. Her addition to the firm will not only strengthen the civil and criminal litigation team but also bolster the firm’s rapidly expanding OPRA practice,” according to Michael Stein, Managing Partner of PSWH.
Borg resides in Manhattan with her husband, Garth Wakeford, a former South African professional rugby player who is now a specialized personal trainer, and their two English bulldogs.
