After several years of uncertain future and a delay forced by the COVID-19 pandemic, the official release date of “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 has been finally set. As Eight Bit promised, its originally planned July premiere was moved to October adding the series to the slew of titles arriving in the small screen in fall.

‘Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 release date confirmed

The official Comic Alive magazine Twitter page shared some of the contents of its new issue, which features the anime based on the same title light novel series by Tsutomu Sato. In the same post, it was announced that the broadcast of “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will begin on Oct. 3.

It should be noted that this release date applies to Japan TV networks that will carry “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2. While it is likely, fans will have to wait for further announcements on which international streaming platform or cable network will acquire the license to release the new episodes detailing the next adventures of the Shiba siblings, Tatsuya and Miyuki.

The first season of the series, which aired in 2014 with 26 episodes, was licensed to a number of channels for international release. Some of them included Aniplex of America for the United States release as well as Animax Asia that made it possible for fans in Southeast Asia to follow the show. Considering “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is slated to premiere in a month, news regarding this matter should be released in the coming weeks.

‘Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 spoilers

It has been confirmed that “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will only cover the Visitor Arc, which is based on light novel volumes 9 to 11. This is a much less source material compared to what was used for the first season. It is then possible that the second anime installment would only have a one-cour run.

The Visitor Arc is also where the next major character will be introduced. Fans who have seen the 2017 original anime movie “The Girl Who Calls the Stars” should be familiar with the name Angelina Kudou Shields. But since her addition in “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is based on the canon storyline, expect to see a slightly different premise of her introduction in the series.
