LEIDEN, Netherlands and MILPITAS, Calif., May 09, 2017 -- IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ:IXYS), a global manufacturer of power semiconductors and ICs for energy efficiency, power management, transportation, medical, and motor control applications, today announced the availability of a full power reference design based on the IXIDM1401 isolated gate driver and a 1200V phase-leg IXYS IGBT module.
This design integrates the 1200V phase-leg IXYS XPT™ IGBT MIXA225PF1200TSF and 4000V isolated driver module IXIDM1401_1505_M (a molded version of the IXIDM1401) into one functional power device that can be controlled by a microcontroller (MCU) through a 4kV isolation barrier. It can be powered from a single polarity 15V power supply.
Built using the IX6610/11 gate driver chipset, the IXIDM1401 allows a 3.3 V microcontroller, through an isolation barrier, to control IGBTs and MOSFETs. The IGBT module consists of two short-circuit capable XPT™ IGBTs rated at 360A, along with two freewheeling diodes in the half-bridge configuration and a built-in temperature sensing and protection capability.
The design consists of a base power board (3.9 x 2.45 x 0.1 inches) with the gate driver and IGBT modules attached to it. The power board is a two-layer surface-mount and provides connections between the MIXA225PF1200TSF and IXIDM1401. It also contains resistor dividers that limit the de-saturation voltage of the IGBTs. The dimensions with the modules installed measures 6 x 2.45 x 1.75 inches. Schematics and bills of material are available.
This design provides a platform to develop a variety of power management applications, including MCU-controlled motor drives, UPS, power supplies, automotive and transportation, inverters and high-power converters.
Additional product information can be obtained by visiting the IXYS website at http://www.ixys.com or by contacting the company directly.
