“Game Of Thrones” Now Makes Its Stars Two-Factor Their Emails For Season 7; Author George RR Martin Might Not Publish Any More Books Due To New Spinoff Projects?

Kit Harington plays Jon Snow on HBO's 'Game of Thrones'

As HBO moves past written material from author George RR Martin’s fantasy novels for its hit TV show “Game Of Thrones” with Season 7, an actor from the show revealed the cable channel is trying to reign in potential leaks.

Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Missandei in the show, revealed in an interview that the show has definitely stressed the importance of keeping not only her lips shut, but also keeping scripts from getting potentially leaked. She shared to Express, “They've definitely tightened up who has scripts and how we're given them. You have to look at it digitally. They won't send it to us unless our emails have a two-step verification [security process]. You might get given rehearsal notes on set, but you have to sign for and return them before you leave. If you don't, people will chase you until you give them back!"

The Verge said the show had been trying to make sure that plot secrets remain on the set. “Game Of Thrones” had even put up with some of its actors who unknowingly post scripts on social media. The two-factor also made sense now, considering that Martin has yet to publish the seventh book of his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, and Season 7, which will debut in July this year, will mark the transition of “Game Of Thrones” from a TV adaptation to a show canon, WIRED said.

This week, HBO has confirmed that it is currently developing multiple scripts for potential spinoffs of its award-winning fantasy drama. The Washington Post said that although this seems a bit of good news to fans who will miss “Game Of Thrones” after it bows out by Season 8, this might be bad for Martin’s fans who are eagerly waiting for the follow-up to his fifth novel “A Dance With Dragons.”

Earlier, he agreed that the show’s popularity has distracted him from focusing on his books. Martin himself is actively working with the show to develop the scripts for Season 7 and 8, and with his new commitments with the spinoffs, wrapping up the books for the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series seems moot at this point, Stephanie Merry for the Post writes.
