‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 actor John Bradley recently dropped a potentially massive hint on the new installment’s storyline during a recent interview. Bradley, who plays Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) loyal friend and ally Sam, revealed that his character may play a major role in the new episodes. Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran revealed details on his cameo role in the upcoming season.
According to Uproxx, Bradley hinted at his character’s fate in the upcoming season during a podcast interview with Emily Dean on ‘Walking the Dog.’ The English actor hinted that Samwell Tarly’s continued survival on the series would mean that the character will play a major role in the next episodes. He said, “The thing about Sam is, if he’s still around at this stage, you do suspect that there is gonna be a point to keeping him around.”
It was speculated that Sam will be the one to successfully cure Sir Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) from his grayscale condition with knowledge gained from studying to become a Meister for the Night’s Watch at the Citadel. It was also rumored that Sam would have a valuable role in the North’s fight against the White Walkers, particularly because he owned a Valyrian steel sword that is one of his family’s heirlooms.
According to Express, Bradley explained during another interview, "I think taking the sword was a symbolic gesture of taking what's his… He knows only too well that the sword is wasted if it stays in Horn Hill. If it's just an ornament then it's not going to do the good he knows he can do with it."
He added, “It's not that he wants to go to the Citadel to have a comfortable life… He genuinely feels he can make a difference, and he wants to, because he's a very good and proactive character… He knows he can't make a difference in the conventional way, or in the battlefield. But he can make a difference here."
Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran also revealed details on his upcoming cameo role during an interview with ‘The Hits Radio.’ The award-winning English singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor revealed that his role involves singing for Arya (Maisie Williams).
According to Games Radar, Sheeran teased, "I just do a scene with Maisie… I sing a song and then she goes, 'oh, that's a nice song.'" It was previously revealed that Williams was a huge fan of Sheeran and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss always planned to surprise the young star with his appearance on the show.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is scheduled to premiere on HBO on July 26, 2017. Unlike previous seasons, which contained 10 episodes, the new season will only consist of seven.
