FULLERTON, Calif., June 07, 2017 -- To support autism charities and special education, Fullerton Cares was selected as “Charity of the Year” by the Woman’s Club of Fullerton Helping Hands for a second year in a row. As the selected charity, Fullerton Cares will receive a donation at the Woman’s Club of Fullerton meeting on June 12 at the Christian Life Center, 404 W. Wilshire, where leadership from both organizations including Founder Larry Houser will speak and officially accept the designation. Fullerton Cares is the first organization to be named for two years in a row.
The subcommittee of Woman’s Club of Fullerton who selects and administrates the club’s charitable efforts for the year, Helping Hands issued a statement on the organization’s website saying, “We are so excited to be presenting a BIG check to Fullerton Cares Autism Foundation. Thank you to EVERYONE who participated and supported us to help us achieve this record-breaking amount. If it wasn’t for YOU, our members, donors & sponsors we couldn’t have done it.”
The Woman’s Club of Fullerton organizes two major fundraisers: Quartermania in October and Bunco boogie in May with all proceeds going towards Fullerton Cares this year. Mutual support of volunteers, raffle prizes, and more were continually offered between the two organizations during all events throughout the year, including the two major Fullerton Cares’ annual events, the Comedy Show for Autism and the Mardi Gras for Autism.
Says Fullerton Cares founder Larry Houser, “We thank WCOF for the validation of the work we have been doing in our town of Fullerton in support of people of all abilities to participate in school, the community, and the workforce.”
