TUSTIN, Calif., Nov. 30, 2017 -- Freeze Tag (OTC:FRZT), a leading creator of mobile social games, today announced that the company’s geolocation scavenger hunt game, Munzee, has raised $20,000 in support of diabetes awareness.
“Fundraising campaigns have become a core value of our gaming communities and our players continue to show support every time we give them the opportunity,” said Rob Vardeman, President of Freeze Tag. “Diabetes awareness is a cause that means a great deal to our players, our staff and myself, so the reaction to the fundraiser has been wonderful.”
On October 16, 2017, Munzee announced the sale of special virtual game pieces to raise money for diabetes awareness and research. Money raised from these game pieces has been donated to the American Diabetes Association through the Tour de Cure DFW, which several team members participated in. The remainder of the money will be donated to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). The IDF is an umbrella organization that consists of over 200 diabetes associations in 170 countries to help those living with diabetes and those at risk.
This fundraising special also coincided with World Diabetes Day on November 14th, the world’s largest diabetes awareness campaign. In connection to the worldwide campaign, the Munzee blog has also shared the stories of players within the community living with diabetes and how the game has helped them maintain their health.
Munzee’s focus on fundraising has been a core value for the company for some time. Successful campaigns over the past few years have included breast cancer awareness, ALS research, heart health and more. Fundraising campaigns are usually chosen based on personal stories with the staff or players in mind.
“We’re excited to embrace the good that the Munzee community of players can accomplish through fundraising campaigns,” said Craig Holland, CEO of Freeze Tag. “As a company, we share the same values of “giving back” to those in need, and we look forward to continuing this trend on an even larger scale in the months and years to come.”
