After securing an agreement with the music industry and its various labels, Facebook can now finally take advantage of the licensed music that it has access to. One of the first things that the company is doing with it is offering a new feature to users called Lip Sync Live. This basically allows users to conduct things like lip sync battles with their friends if they want to.
It’s worth pointing out that Facebook isn’t the first to offer such a service to users since apps such as Musical.ly have been providing similar features already and have gained quite a bit of popularity. On the other hand, as a feature that is directly integrated into the social media platform, Lip Sync Live might be more accessible to its users. Facebook is currently testing this out now in select areas, The Verge reports.
As for the actual features of the new service, it allows users to choose from a selection of songs. Naturally, there will be the ability to capture videos on offer that will also come with options for effects and even the ability to bring in a friend to sing along. Users can get as creative as they want.
There are currently hundreds of songs on its listings, including “Havana” by Camila Cabello and “Happier” by Ed Sheeran, as well as old favorites from legendary bands like Guns N’ Roses, Engadget reports. As the publication notes, this could make for some excellent viral video opportunities if done right.
What’s more, thanks to the fact that these songs are licensed and completely legal to use, participants won’t have to worry about their videos getting pulled out due to copyright violations. This can make a huge difference to those who might be planning on incorporating the new feature to their own online activities.
