With the “Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot” release date just a week away, interest on the upcoming action RPG title is at an all-time high. Thankfully, Bandai Namco released a video giving more details on how to level Goku through training, food, and friendship.
“Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot” gives players the option to level up Goku by eating, as reported by Polygon. Food will make the character strong by temporarily giving him buffs boosting his stats and, more importantly, permanently increasing the character’s stats.
Players can cook meat at campfires or eat food on the go. But for those who want a bigger boost in the stats, the best use of food is to head to a chef located in a village or small town and request him to prepare dishes.
One other option when it comes to leveling up via food is to simply go home. The game stays true to its manga and anime roots as it is also Chi-Chi’s in-game job to prepare delicious full-course meals for Goku, Gamesradar reported. However, it’s up to the player to gather the needed ingredients for the meal or to look for recipes, which are usually found in sub-quests or talking to NPCs.
Aside from eating, one other way to boost Goku’s fighting prowess is to unlock or upgrade skills. The “Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot” has a very extensive character skill tree, allowing players to explore the best skill combinations that might work for them.
Upgrading a skill requires the use of Z orbs, which basically acts as a currency in the game. There are different colors of Z orbs and their colors indicate where they can be found. For instance, blue colored ones are found near bodies of water, green-colored ones are usually found in forests or jungle while red-colored ones are found in rocky canyons or desert-like areas.
To unlock some skills with green icons, the character needs to undergo training. There are different training grounds located all over the map. D metals are sometimes needed to access different training option so players need to be on the lookout for those as well.
The last method of getting stronger is through the community board. One can gather soul emblems by helping various characters along the way or by going through the main story. Placing these emblems on the community board will elevate the board’s rank which, in turn, allows players to access community skills.
“Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot” will be released on January 17, 2020. The title will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
