“Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle” players are getting four new zones with the release of "Donkey Kong Adventure” expansion on Tuesday.
Players who bought the game’s Season Pass had a slight advantage and got access to the expansion a day early. But as of June 26, all “Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle” players can start exploring the DLC.
Ubisoft bills the “Donkey Kong Adventure” as the biggest DLC ever released for “Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle." And that appears to be true since the expansion content brings not only a few items to the game but an entirely new world for players to explore.
Since the announcement of the “Donkey Kong Adventure” DLC, Ubisoft has named only three of the new areas, including the Lagoon, Reef, and Jungle while the fourth zone has always been kept a secret. With a map this big, Ubisoft has promised up to 10 hours of playing time with the “Donkey Kong Adventure” DLC.
Aside from the new zones, the expansion also comes with two new characters. Obviously, Donkey Kong takes the first spot while the other goes to Rabbid Cranky. And, according to the developers, some of the DLC highlights are within these characters’ abilities.
Donkey Kong’s preferred weapon is the Bananarang, which can hit multiple targets in a single fire, while his secondary move is his signature ground pound attack, which causes great damage to nearby enemies. Rabbid Cranky, on the other hand, constantly holds a cane that doubles as a weapon. It can be transformed into the Boombow for close-range attacks, or into the Barrel Bolt for shots that can cover wider areas in a single shot.
Completing the roster of characters for the “Donkey Kong Adventure” DLC is Rabbid Peach. Ubisoft adds an array of new weapons for her, while her healing and defensive skills come as a great help to Donkey Kong and Rabbid Cranky.
“Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle” is exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch.
