Donald Trump's Truth Social app seen as a disaster, key execs quit

Donald Trump's Truth Social app was launched in February, and it was a smooth opening at first. The social media app that is similar to Twitter was also supposed to be a revolutionary technology, but a little over a month after its debut, it is being described now as a "disaster."

According to BBC News, the Truth Social app was officially unveiled on Feb. 21, the same day as President's Day in the United States. However, just six weeks after, it is already besieged with many issues.

The major problem is that almost 1.5 million people are on the waiting list after trying to register and are still unable to use the app. Initially, people assumed that once the Truth Social is up and running, Donald Trump will start filling it with his "truths," but this did not happen as it is possible, he could not use it yet either.

The app attracted a lot of users when it was launched, and sign-ups have been overwhelming during the first few days. But then, it turned out that Truth Social has a lot of things to fix first before it can be said that it is already operating "normally."

It also needs to address the waiting list that has already reached more than 1.4 million because there is a chance those who are waiting will not go ahead anymore. One of those who are also trying to register had received the message that reads, "Thank you for joining! Due to massive demand, we have placed you on our waitlist. We love you and you are not just another number to us but your waitlist number is 1,419, 631."

Donald Trump said in October last year that he would be launching a new tech company and creating a social media site that allows people to post "freely." The former President of the United States made the announcement months after he was permanently banned on Twitter for posting a series of messages that were believed to have pushed his supporters to attack the Capitol in January 2021.

"I created Truth Social to stand up to the tyranny of big tech," the ex-POTUS said. "We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter yet your favorite American president has been silenced."

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that two of Truth Social's key tech executives have quit after a trouble-filled launch. Josh Adams and Billy Boozer, the firm's chief technology officer and head of product development, respectively, have reportedly resigned.

Both joined Donald Trump's venture only last year, and they became the main players in the move to create a new social media empire. Sources said they have quit at a critical time, in the midst of Truth Social's release plan activities.
