United States President Donald Trump has been seen as someone who does not take too kindly to even the mildest of criticism or dissent, especially within the White House. The publishers of the book ‘Anonymous’ have now broken the silence regarding the identity of said author, who is widely speculated to be a White House aide.
As Trump is currently facing an impeachment trial at the Senate on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, more information regarding the president’s supposed activities and behavior behind closed doors are coming to light. Aside from the big revelations made by John Bolton in his leaked manuscript, there is also another official from the Trump administration speaking out while choosing to stay anonymous. The same official was responsible for writing the op-ed published by the New York Times and authoring a book titled ‘A Warning’ under the same anonymous title. This led to many speculations as to who the supposed ‘anonymous’ might be, the biggest one being Victoria Coates of the National Security Council.
Due to her rumored involvement, there has been a whisper campaign being organized by those in and out of the White House against her leading her to fear for her job and her life. This resulted in the publishers of the book to speak out on the supposed identity of Anonymous. Matt Latimer of Javelin said in an upcoming statement via Politico: “To be very clear so there is no chance of any misunderstanding: Dr. Coates is not Anonymous. She does not know who Anonymous is. We have never discussed Anonymous or the book, A Warning, with her prior to its publication. She did not write it, edit it, see it in advance, know anything about it, or as far as we know ever read it.”
Meanwhile, Trump’s minor Twitter slipup in congratulating the Kansas City Chiefs for winning the Super Bowl may bring big consequences, according to CNN. Trump made the mistake of tweeting the wrong state in his initial congratulatory tweet, deleting it and tweeting a new congratulatory tweet afterward.
While a mistake like that may be minor in most aspects, it may be a big error on Trump’s part. This is because the Trump administration has been known for nitpicking on other politician’s mistakes, even throwing insults in their supposed lack of geographical knowledge.
