VANCOUVER, Wash., Nov. 03, 2016 -- DiscoverOrg, the leading sales and marketing intelligence provider, donated $40,000 and more than 3,000 lbs of supplies to the Family & Community Resource Center (FCRC) Program, a Title 1 federal program benefiting Evergreen Public Schools in Vancouver - the largest charitable donation drive in the FCRC Program’s history.

Evergreen Public Schools enrolls nearly 27,000 students in its 5 High Schools, 6 Middle Schools, and 21 Elementary Schools, in which over 12,000 students are enrolled in Free/Reduced Meal Program and over 1,000 students are considered to “lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence” according to the federal McKinney-Vento law -- a disturbing statistic that has grown by 200% since the 2012-13 school year. This level of need in the school community prompted the formation of the FCRC Program four years ago, and the organization has expanded from supporting 1 school in its first year to 14 currently.
“We are incredibly fortunate for the partnership with DiscoverOrg and for the support they have provided to children and families in our district,” said Melanie Green, Administrator of the FCRC. “When they learned about the increasing needs of the community, they responded with compassion and generosity. So many of our kids come to school with adult worries, and having resources to support families allows us to ensure that students can come to school happy, healthy and safe, which allows them the opportunity to be successful in school and thrive.”
DiscoverOrg ran a pre-holiday season donation contest in October, and in the spirit of friendly competition, each department was encouraged to come together and try to out-donate other team’s while supporting those in need in their local community. All cash donations from the teams were matched by DiscoverOrg’s CEO, Henry Schuck.
Notable efforts came the Finance Team, which raised over $10,500 through a crowdfunding site (including an anonymous gift of $7,285) and secured a large donation of soap and toiletries from River County Soapworks, Oregon Soap Company, and Candlewood Suites Vancouver-Camas as well toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss from Willamette Dental. The Marketing Team donated commercial quantities of soap and shampoo with assistance from local hotels, including Vancouver’s Comfort Inn & Suites and The Hilton Vancouver, and more than 5,100 diapers. Due to the overwhelming response from DiscoverOrg’s staff, Evergreen Public Schools is able to extend the reach of the donations beyond the originally planned students and their families to those who are in need in the broader community.
“We feel very fortunate to be a part of this community, and when you are a part of your community, you should feel an obligation to lift those around you up when they need help. For the last month, the employees at DiscoverOrg have opened up their hearts and their wallets to help those people who need help the most,” noted Schuck.
DiscoverOrg has been a member of the Vancouver community since moving the company to the area in 2009 and has previously partnered with the FCRC Program to support Evergreen Public Schools 3 times via a winter holiday giving program, a Spring shoe drive, and the current Fall donation contest. DiscoverOrg will be continuing its holiday drive tradition by partnering with the organization for a toy and food drive.
