The core propositions of Social Value comes from the integrated combination of United Nation’s SDGs and China’s five development principles (Innovation, Cooperation, Green, Openness and Sharing) building a comprehensive assessment system based on global consensus and China's national strategy. It highlights the balance between social goods and economic profits and strongly conveys the idea that "Doing Well and Doing Good"
China SVAS (Social Value Assessment System) is the world’s first comprehensive system with its distinguished design philosophy, methodology and tool to measure public companies’ integrated performance on economic, social and environmental aspects. The system measures the organization’s internal and external effects on social value, then applies quantitative evaluation model, which directly linked to the secondary market. The system evaluates and analyzes the social value of a company from 3 aspects: Aim, Approach and Action. The theoretical model interpretation is Aim: it addresses the range of the publicity, urgency, and fairness of targeted social issues, Approach defines the innovative and systematic solutions and Action measures the effectiveness of management and execution of an organization. These are key factors determining the “quantity” of social value.
CASVI co-developed with 68 leading experts from 42 domestic and international organizations, including: Investment Association of China, United Nations Social Impact Fund, Tsing Capital Investment Group and Tsinghua University etc. According to the final report, “SV 99” has entered a new phase of doing well and doing good. Its performance has exceeded the bottom lines for financial return and social impact. The simulation index has outperformed many major stock exchange indexes including: SSE 50, CSI 300, SSE Composite Index and CSI 500 in the 18-month-long backtesting period between June 2016 and November 2017 (See the figure below).
Mrs. WANG Ping, Founder and Chairperson of YouChange Foundation and also the founding chair of CASVI delivered a powerful speech in front of 300 plus media, stated that it is merely a starting point of the new social innovation ecosystem. Mrs. WANG is the brainchild of the SVAS and the evaluation system is based on the framework of the 3A (Aim, Approach and Action) Social Value Evaluation System developed by YouChange Foundation. She also stated that for companies and entrepreneurs, with the consistency of 3A framework could create real social impact and value to society. CASVI’s Chairperson of 2018, former president of China Merchants Bank MA Weihua believed that SV 99 report could show the public prospects in applying social value creation to company’s strategic management, investment guidance and consulting service for policy makers. QIN Shuo, one of the leading finance experts in China, highly recognized SV 99 and evaluation model as good starting points to guide the whole capital market.
CASVI was NPO established with national and International institutions that specialized in social value investment in China. It endeavors to steer capital, think-tanks, policy and other elements of production to the cycle of “economy that does good”, and to use the S-PPP (Social – Private and Public Partnership) model to effectively tackling and resolving issues which affect people’s livelihood world-wide.
