The next batch of updates and new contents will arrive in “Destiny 2: Season of Opulence” — the final installment of the current gameplay roadmap. Several game modes and a new activity remain nameless at this point, but one speculation is that a new wave-based multiplayer could be included.

In the previous seasons, “Destiny 2: Season of Opulence” will have an array of free seasonal updates while the most exciting ones are exclusive to those who purchased the Annual Pass. Included in the latter are four unnamed new gameplay contents such as a new raid, a new “six-player matchmade activity,” and two “redacted” updates.
“Destiny 2: Season of Opulence” is not expected to go live until June that is why Bungie is still silent on the details of these exclusive gameplay contents. However, Polygon suggests that the new six-player activity could be in wave-based mode judging from the recent updates that Bungie has issued.
Generally, wave-based games require players to stay alive or defend a certain area from the onslaught of enemy bots. It is called wave-based because the opponents come in batches. After surviving an attack, players can have a short period to regroup before another wave of enemies — usually more in number and more difficult to defeat — arrive. If this checks out, it means that the new activity in “Destiny 2: Season of Opulence” is not a match made PvP gameplay that could be a welcome change for many players.
The same report has speculations on other secret paid contents in “Destiny 2: Season of Opulence.” For one, the site of the upcoming new raid is expected to be in the Leviathan based on the teasers revealed previously.
Meanwhile, players who refuse to purchase the annual pass are getting new contents in “Destiny 2: Season of Opulence,” too. They will have access to the “Solstice of Heroes” event and a quest that will reward them Exotic items.
