Tesla has just announced that owners can transfer their Full Self-Driving suite to the Cybertruck, marking a major shift in how the automaker handles upgrades. The offer, available for a limited time, gives owners the chance to save thousands on their all-electric pickup.
Tesla Opens FSD Transfer for Cybertruck Owners
Owners who have already purchased Full Self-Driving (FSD) for a car can now transfer the suite to the all-electric Cybertruck, thanks to a first from Tesla.
When customers buy new Teslas, they can use the Full Self-Driving transfer to take their suite with them.
This saves them a ton of money since, as Teslarati explains, in the past, customers were forced to buy the Full Self-Driving suite when they bought a new car, which was not popular with those customers since they had already spent up to $15,000 on the semi-autonomous feature.
Tesla Responds to Customer Complaints
Over the past year, Tesla has chosen to pay attention to owner concerns, as the general public has never been convinced by CEO Elon Musk's claims that the FSD is now priced much below its true potential.
Full Self-Driving transfers were initially offered by Tesla last year, but they were only available for a limited time. In the time after, it has made it possible to transfer Full Self-Driving multiple times, including twice this year alone.
Cybertruck FSD Transfer Now Available
A step further, though, is that owners can now transfer Full Self-Driving from their own vehicle to the Cybertruck, something Tesla has never before permitted.
Until the year comes to a close, you will have the option to transfer Full Self-Driving to another Cybertruck.
New Options for Cybertruck Buyers
It was previously possible to transfer the suite to another vehicle in this series for owners who purchased Full Self-Driving on the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y, but not on the Cybertruck. This feature was introduced today.
Cybertruck buyers would be compelled to shell out an additional $8,000 for the Full Self-Driving suite, on top of the already exorbitant price of the vehicle.
