CARY, N.C., Sept. 07, 2016 -- Cary veterinarian Chatham Animal Hospital is pleased to announce they will be sponsoring the third annual Wiener Dog Race at the Triangle Oktoberfest. The race will take place on Saturday, September 24th and will be held in Cary’s Koko Booth Amphitheater.
The Cary veterinarian plans to sponsor this event annually and become an Oktoberfest fixture. They will be setting up a large tent next to the wiener dog race track on Saturday for the entire race day. A 55 inch TV monitor in the tent will display media related to Chatham Animal Hospital, its customers and its co-sponsors.
The cost to participate in the race is a $20 registration fee per dog. Participants will also receive two free festival admission tickets. Owners must provide proof that their dogs are up to date on their vaccinations, and a photo of each dog entered must also be provided. The deadline for registration is September 21. Dogs will run in heats until all participants have raced. The winners of each heat will race in a final heat. The top three finishers will receive prizes. All dogs must be assisted with a human at the starting gate and finish line. All decisions made by the race judges will be final. There will also be a Best Dressed Dachshund contest for race participants.
A Chatham Animal Hospital veterinarian will be on site for contestants from 12 pm to 6 pm on race day. Their display tent will be active throughout the event and feature a friendly basset hound dressed up as an Oktoberfest bratwurst. Chatham Animal Hospital will also be offering free microchip scanning.
Tickets to Triangle Oktoberfest are $20 for Friday at the door, and $15 if purchased ahead of time. Saturday tickets are $25 at the door and $20 if purchased early.
