TORONTO, May 02, 2018 -- Sail, a global leader in medical cannabis-focused healthcare software used by clinicians and patients at the point-of-care, today announced that its fully managed service business unit, Canna Care Docs (“CCD”) will enter Canada under a telemedicine service model.
On January 4, 2018, Sail announced its acquisition of US-based Canna Care Docs, which is one of the leading cannabis-specialty healthcare service providers in the United States. The multi-state operation, which has provided qualification and certification services to more than 250,000 patients, provides a fully managed direct-to-market distribution channel for Sail’s Clinical Decision Support platform. Canna Care Docs will virtually connect healthcare practitioners and patients in a fully managed service model providing patients a more efficient point of access to physicians; and ensure clinicians have the knowledge-based tools required to qualify and prescribe with the required pre-post prescription activity support for patients.
“Since the acquisition of Canna Care Docs in December, we continue to see significant growth within its operations stateside and are thrilled to be expanding that growth internationally,” said Prad Sekar, Chief Executive Officer, Sail. “Canadians continue to seek out qualified physicians in every corner of the country to discuss adding medical cannabis into their treatment plan. Our goal has always been to ease the access for patients and to empower clinicians with the tools necessary to prescribe no matter where the patient lives. As we continue to work in this rapidly evolving environment, we are able to fill the immediate needs of the industry today while also providing a strong technology platform that will be used in general practice tomorrow.”
Patients will be able to easily book appointments online through the Canna Care Docs website to schedule a virtual clinical appointment with a Medical Doctor or Nurse Practitioner (where applicable). Patients will be asked to complete an intake form and submit any required documentation prior to their appointment. Once their virtual appointment easily accessible via web or mobile is complete, qualified patients will be issued a medical document and with the assistance of the Canna Care Docs education team, will be assisted through the process of registering with one of Canada’s Licensed Producers.
The launch is further strengthened with Sail’s proven experience within the Canadian healthcare industry. The Sail platform remains one of the only cannabis-focused healthcare solutions to use clinically-validated data sources to help physicians and patients at the point-of-care. The solution, which is already in use throughout Canada, is tailored to the regulations in each state or country, and leverages patient-specific data to help clinicians make informed decisions when prescribing medical cannabis. It represents one of the only sources of evidenced-based global data that originates from clinically-led operations, providing improved value to all industry players rather than other solely anecdotal, patient-driven data sources.
“With Canna Care Docs currently serving 10 states in the US, we have built our business to meet the unique requirements and regulations of each market we serve,” said Stephanie Gluchacki, President, Clinical Operations, Sail. “We are thrilled to be bringing our wealth of experience north of the border, where our growing network of Canadian physicians will have the tools necessary to reach patients across the country in even the most remote regions.”
The fully managed service program allows Sail’s own network of physicians as well as independent healthcare providers to connect directly to patients as well as directly to licensed producers, closing the loop of the medical cannabis ecosystem.
Sail anticipates the successful launch of its virtual clinic operations by the end of May 2018.
