Burger King Uruguay announced the launch of its own non-fungible token, or NFT. The company is releasing a unique piece, and a single copy is set to be sold via an auction.

Burger King Uruguay’s NFT will only be around for a limited time, and buyers can also enjoy tangible benefits that can be claimed in the actual stores. It was said that the company’s digital token is one of the first few to be introduced in the country.

According to La Diaria Economia, Gustavo Etchandy, the executive creative director of Innvented, an innovation and creativity firm managing Burger King Uruguay’s NFT campaign, shared the implementation of the tokens has also been challenging for them.

Estchandy also said that through the release of NFTs, the burger restaurant brand is aiming to bolster its presence in the country. It also wants to attract more customers in the younger generation, just like how the other BK stores have done in other parts of the world.

The executive further noted that in other countries, most of the Burger King outlets have many younger customers, and it would like to achieve this as well. Some of the ideas that the company is considering aside from the NFTs include the launch of e-sports events or streaming which is really popular among the youngsters.

In any case, NFTs are said to be one of the solutions that Burger King Uruguay has thought of as a method to bring in more young customers. Aside from the rights that the buyers of the digital asset can have from the sale of the art, they will also get many advantages in the “real world.”

“The strength of the idea was precisely that it gave tangibility to the NFT problem,” Etchandy explained during the interview on why they are using NFTs for the campaign. “Most brands that touch on this topic do it based on aesthetic value or digital exchange but we felt it was important that it had tangible value because our product is still hamburgers and this is what we sell.”

Maximiliano Arbes, Innvented’s creative director, also said that they would be using OpenSea and Ethereum for the Burger King Uruguay’s NFT sale because these are the most well-known and accepted platforms in many parts of the world. The OpenSea NFT marketplace is also home to great artworks so it is the right place for BK’s digital assets too.

Meanwhile, Burger King Uruguay’s NFT has been titled “Hacker Stacker,” and so far, the highest offer in the auction at this moment is 0.016 ETH which is equivalent to $46.45. The auction will be held on Wednesday, March 2, and Friday, March 4.
