Burger King has called on fans and Whopper lovers to make a new burger sandwich, and they can win the $1 million prize if their creation is chosen. The fast-food chain told fans and customers that it was their "moment to shine," so they were encouraged to submit their entries.
Burger King said it already offers more than 200,000 customized combinations for its famous Whopper burgers, and anyone who can produce another one may claim the big prize. The company will pick the entry with the best idea and most creative sandwich, per Fox Business.
Invitation to Join the Contest
The restaurant said this is the first time since Whopper was launched in 1957 that it is putting the "sandwich in the hands of its guests" through this new contest. It will offer the top prize to just one lucky patron who will instantly become a millionaire.
The home of the famous flame-grilled Whopper is inviting everyone to present their customized combination of toppings that make a flavorful burger by joining the Million Dollar Whopper Contest. The entry should be a unique sandwich with "savory sensations or sweet and sour showstopper." Burger King said the contest is open not only to Whopper fanatics but to culinary creators and AI enthusiasts as well.
How to Enter the Competition
Interested individuals must have a Royal Perks account and have until March 17 to submit their entries. They can customize their Whopper with up to eight toppings of sour and sweet variety. All contestants can follow the prompts on Burger King's website for the competition to present their sandwich concept.
Burger King will choose the final three, and they will be invited to the company's headquarters in Miami. At the HQ, the trio will be given the opportunity to improve their ideas further before the sandwiches are added to the menu across the United States for a limited time later this year to get votes from customers.
Use of AI in the Contest
Burger King said that the competition also uses artificial intelligence because the entries are submitted "with the power of AI. Once the individual submits an entry, he or she will receive a preview of the AI version of their Whopper creation. Contestants may also include thematic backgrounds and personalized AI-generated tunes or songs.
Finally, USA Today reported that Burger King's chief marketing officer, Pat O'Toole, said that even if the sandwich entry failed to make it to the menu, the contest is still a chance for diners to "experience and share their creation using the power of the artificial intelligence technology."
