August cannot come any sooner, especially for fans of the “Boruto: Naruto Next Generation” manga series. This month’s installment ended in a huge cliffhanger setting up a major battle that is very likely to start in “Boruto” chapter 49.
‘Boruto’ chapter 49 spoilers: Boruto to join Naruto and Sasuke vs. Isshiki?
Isshiki’s transformation into Jigen’s body has been completed, and the remainder of his fight against Kashin Koji in chapter 48 seemed like a preview of what the Otsutsuki member can do. After defeating the Jiraiya clone, he wasted no time and went to Konoha, where Naruto and Sasuke are waiting to face him. But the first teaser for “Boruto” chapter 49 suggests that another person is joining the duo in the upcoming battle.
VJump released brief teasers for the upcoming issue in August that will include “Boruto” chapter 49. Per OrganicDinosaur’s translation, the preview hints at Boruto “facing” Isshiki, who has “mastery over his overwhelming powers.” The teaser further confirms that Isshiki’s full reincarnation means he is an even stronger opponent than he was when Naruto and Sasuke first fought with him.

The same preview seemingly hints at Amado having more role to play in the upcoming battle in “Boruto” chapter 49. The teaser reads, “Boruto and his comrades have acquired intel from Amado -- They’re heading over the to battlefield in order to defeat Isshiki.” This should be interesting considering how Naruto was totally against the idea of Boruto fighting against Isshiki.
It can be recalled that the last panels of chapter 48 revolved around the Naruto, Boruto, and Sasuke. The younger Uzumaki insisted on joining his father in fighting Isshiki, but the Seventh Hokage was completely against the idea. Boruto questioned how can the two defeat Isshiki when they almost died in their first match. Sasuke then asked the young ninja if he is willing to die for Konoha just like he and Naruto have been to which Boruto was unable to answer.
‘Boruto’ chapter 49 release date, where to read
Now, the hard part is fans will have to wait until Aug. 20 to read “Boruto” chapter 49. But that should be enough time for fans to create theories on how Konoha can defeat Isshiki or how Isshiki can place karma on Kawaki again. The next chapter will be available in digital format through Manga Plus and Shonen Jump.
