It would seem that a lot of things are happening within a very short period of time with regards to “Borderlands 3” and the secrets that surround it. There is the matter of why popular video game voice actor Troy Baker turned Gearbox down and the mysterious Morse Code message tied to the game. Will there be new drama in the works? Has a huge secret been staring gamers in the face this whole time?
As IGN reports, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has recently revealed that the decision to not voice Rhys through Troy Baker was made by the actor, himself. At least, this is what he wrote in a response to a fan who was wondering why the VA would not be in “Borderlands 3” as the character. In addition to adding some tension to the event, the response also brings up some new questions.
You’ll have to ask Troy. I was told by the audio director that he turned it down. Fortunately, with how Rhys appears in the game, I don’t think it actually matters at all. You’ll see for yourself when the game comes out and you may disagree with me on that or not.

“You’ll have to ask Troy. I was told by the audio director that he turned it down. Fortunately, with how Rhys appears in the game, I don’t think it actually matters at all. You’ll see for yourself when the game comes out and you may disagree with me on that or not,” Pitchford wrote.
Now, there are a few things about this matter that are worth looking into. One is the reason why Troy Baker turned down the role, which rumors attribute to a protest refusal. Then there’s the matter of Rhys’ condition. If his voice actor didn’t matter, does this mean that he can’t talk in “Borderlands 3” or did something even worse happen to him?
As for the matter of secret messages related to “Borderlands 3,” it basically has to do with the Morse Code found on the game’s Twitch channel when offline. Translated to English, the messages read "Where is the first vault hunter?" and "Who is the Destroyer?"
Those who played the first game will remember that the Destroyer is the final boss. Does this question mean that it will return in “Borderlands 3”? As for the matter of the first question, many have speculated that Tannis might actually be the first vault hunter due to her extensive knowledge. Whatever the case may be, gamers will learn the truth when the title is released on Sept. 13.
