CHARLESTON, S.C., April 20, 2016 -- Members of the community can help improve local waterways by volunteering with Belk, sustainable swimwear company ECO SWIM by Aqua Green and outdoor apparel company United by Blue on Saturday, April 23 from 9 – 11 a.m. The cleanup will take place at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park to remove litter from the park at the base of the Ravenel Bridge, including the marshy area along the Cooper River.

All volunteers will be provided with event t-shirts, breakfast, snacks, water, trash bags, gloves and sunscreen. Volunteers are strongly advised to wear closed-toe, supportive shoes.
Last season, these three sustainable-minded companies and their 40 volunteers picked up 813 lbs. of garbage and recyclables and laid the foundation for a new oyster reef using over 15,000 lbs. of oyster shells.
