Apple accelerates iOS 9.1 beta releases

Apple has released iOS 9.1 beta 5 on Monday for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with build 13B139, 13B137. As always the Cupertino company warned users that devices updated to iOS 9.1 cannot be restored to earlier versions of iOS.

With myriad of problems detected with iOS 9, Apple seems to be expediting the beta releases of iOS 9.1. The problems with the former included installation difficulties; locking up of iPhones, iPads and iPod touches with ‘Slide to Upgrade’; unavailability of App Slicing and upgrade issue between iOS 8 and iOS 9 that affected Mobile data settings.

On September 30, Apple released iOS 9.0.2, the second update to the iOS 9 software within just two weeks of its launch.

Apple Insider points out that build 13B137 includes relatively few known issues - iCloud Keychain could prove problematic for some users, however it could be fixed with a simple reboot; PhotoKit continues to display issues with gesture recognizers, while the restore process might not work for all users and those with active two-factor authentication may not see their full list of available backups.

It further said that iOS 9.1 beta 5 is available as an over-the-air update for eligible users, or as a direct download via the Apple Developer Center.

The release date and time for the iOS 9.1 update hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it is expected that iPad Pro will ship with it. With the iPad Pro release set for November (shipping date not confirmed), speculations are rife that the latest iOS upgrade will release towards the end of this month or in November.
