NEW YORK, June 30, 2017 -- Dr. Randy Trumbower, Assistant Professor in Physical Therapy and Biomedical Engineering and Director of Research at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Emory University, has been selected to join the Education Board at the American Health Council. He will be sharing his knowledge and expertise in Teaching, Research, Rehabilitation, Biomedical Engineering, and Clinical Research.
Dr. Trumbower has been active in the healthcare industry for the past 17 years. Personal experience first inspired him to venture into the field of Physical Therapy. He obtained a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Duke University (1999) and a Master’s degree and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Connecticut (2002, 2005). He completed his fellowship at the Rehab Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University.
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Emory is a leader in research, education, and clinical services.
Dr. Trumbower attributes his success to a strong work ethic and his goal of improving the physical abilities of people with stroke and spinal cord injuries. His scholarly work is routinely supported by private foundations and federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and National Science Foundation. Dr. Trumbower enjoys doing his research and teaching students in the fields of Engineering, Physiology, and Medicine. Of all his accomplishments, he is most proud to have been published in a variety of peer-reviewed articles and to have spoken at multiple conferences and seminars.
Dr. Trumbower’s professional long-term goals include continuing to bridge knowledge gaps between the disciplines of Medicine, Engineering, and Physical Therapy in the field of Neurologic Rehabilitation.
