TORONTO, April 28, 2016 -- Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) announced today the launch of two new websites: AMI.ca in English and AMItele.ca in French. Both websites were completely reimagined and rebuilt from the ground up to be fully accessible, user friendly and more reflective of the organization's mandate to make accessible media for all Canadians.
"We're thrilled to be launching the new websites with a number of new and exciting features that speak to the key priorities of accessibility and enhanced user experience," says David Errington, President and CEO of AMI. "The new design allows us to effectively promote a collection of original content that we're extremely proud of and meets the evolving media needs of our audience. The responsive site enables visitors to have the optimal experience on the device of their choosing."
The new websites were designed to be clean and well organized to generate a streamlined and intuitive user experience. The design capitalizes on the AMI-player, allowing AMI to showcase a range of original content from its three channels: AMI-audio, AMI-tv and AMI-télé. Upon landing at either AMI.ca or AMItele.ca visitors are presented with an array of curated videos allowing them to explore content quickly and easily. Programs are now segmented so visitors can watch single clips or full episodes as they choose.
For ease and convenience AMI has integrated a more powerful search function, allowing visitors to search all programs and categories by title or subject such as sports, arts and business. The Described Video (DV) Guide and the AMI program schedules also boast new features that allow users to personalize their settings based on location and TV service provider. Both websites are responsive on all platforms including desktop, mobile and tablet.
Accessibility remains a top priority and the new websites are fully compliant with W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, level AA. They're designed to function seamlessly with a variety of assistive technologies to ensure the needs of all visitors are met. Members of the blind and partially sighted community were consulted regularly through all stages of the project from site design to development and participated in extensive usability and accessibility testing.
AMI worked alongside MitreboxUXD and MyPlanet to complete this project. Visit the all new sites at AMI.ca and AMItele.ca.
