SAN DIEGO, Feb. 07, 2018 -- The Recover, a national news publication reviews the new 5 part docuseries 'The Trade' that started on February 2 on Showtime shows the personal cost and destruction of the Opioid crisis in America on individuals and families. The US consumes more than 80% of the world's Opioid pills even though it has less than 5% of the world’s population. Opioid overdose kills 91 people a day with numbers climbing. It is a very intimate look into the real lives of addicted mothers putting their children at risk. You will see families torn apart. The raw emotion of the devastation of the addict hating what they are doing but unable to stop themselves. As hard as it may be to watch, educating the public on the increasing dangers of Opioids, quite often starting with a pain medication prescription, needs to be seen. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, parents, kids, grandparents and people from all walks of life can become addicted to Opioids in one of its many forms.

There is no doubt there is a true crisis that needs immediate intervention and solutions. Opioids are highly addictive and one of the easiest drugs to overdose on. Opioid deaths caused by overdosing are greater than the deaths resulting from breast cancer. A recent Surgeon General’s report shows that nearly 21 million, 1 ½ times more than those with cancer, suffer from substance abuse yet 90% never seek treatment.
Treatment centers are evolving to eliminate the excuses of so many addicts. The fear, depression, anxiety and many other problems that accompany drug abuse keep 9 out of 10 from getting help. There are facilities specializing in treating adolescents, couples, and even pet owners. These treatment centers are finding ways to raise the success rate by meeting people where they are and finding what will help them remain for the completion of treatment. Getting the tools they need for the aftercare of recovery is necessary for a healthy life, so finding the right treatment center that fits the individual need is critical.
