‘The Walking Dead’ season 7’s episode 1 is entitled "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be" and may finally reveal Negan’s infamous victim. Meanwhile, director Greg Nicotero talked filming the premiere episode mostly from Rick’s perspective.
The synopsis for season 7’s first episode on Den of Geek stated, "Last season ended with Rick and our group kneeling helplessly before Negan and his group. What Negan does will haunt those who survive forever." It seems that the most anticipated season premiere will feature the great reveal of Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) unfortunate victim from season 6’s controversial cliffhanger.
Michael Cudlitz, who plays former military sergeant Abraham Ford in the series, teased details for the incoming season during a previous interview with Yahoo! TV. When asked for his opinion about who Negan killed in the cliffhanger, he replied, “I don’t even think they hope that you answer it. I think in the back of their minds, they think that you’re going to slip up and say who it may or may not be.”
He continued, “I get asked probably a hundred times a day during a convention. Almost every person asks. They usually preface it with, “I know you’re not going to tell me, but who…” “Just tell me it wasn’t you.” Or, “I know who it is. I know it’s Michonne.” Or, “Man, that’s f***ed up. Everyone’s going to go crazy because Daryl is dead.” They want a reaction.”
Cudlitz added, “I respond differently because the question is always different in how they ask it. They’ll say, “Who died?” And I’ll say, “Everyone.” They’ll say, “Who dies?” I’ll say, “Baby Judith.” They’ll say, “I know you’re dead.” I’ll say, “OK. OK, you know.” They’re like, “No, no, tell me who!” Guess what? You don’t get to know, and you don’t know. Anything anyone is reporting out there is pure speculation unless they are getting information from someone who is in the cast or who is working for the company.”
Meanwhile, director Greg Nicotero talked about directing the scene from Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) perspective. According to TV Guide, he said, "We start in that extreme close-up of him on the Season 7 sneak peek… We're right into it, in his eyes, and into Negan's eyes. We're right there. We don't cut wide. You're there, listening into what they're saying. That's the way Rick's perspective is tremendously important."
It was reported that season 1 will be mostly from Rick’s point of view. Nicotero admitted, "You need to get into other people's heads as well to be able to experience grief and sorrow and fear. So it was a very, very difficult episode to wrap my head around when I got the script because of those perspectives and how the events play out."
‘The Walking Dead’ is a critically-acclaimed horror television series that airs on AMC. Season 7’s episode 1 is scheduled to air on the network on October 23, 2016.
