A report has doubled down on a claim that Apple is planning to unveil the iPhone 14 series earlier than usual this year. And this suggests people would be able to purchase the upcoming phones from stores by mid-September.
iPhone 14 release date
Claims that iPhone 14 series will be launched in September are hardly headline-worthy since most Apple fans are already likely expecting this outcome. But what may come as quite a surprise is that Apple’s first fall event this year is happening earlier than usual and could take place on a Wednesday.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reiterated this information, noting that the event where the iPhone 14 series will be announced is likely to happen on Wednesday, Sept. 7. This marks the earliest iPhone event date since 2016, which also means the upcoming devices will hit the shelves by Sept. 16.
Apple typically hosts a product launch event on a Tuesday. But the journalist speculated that setting this year’s iPhone announcement on a Wednesday may be due to Labor Day in the United States happening that same week on Monday, Sept. 5. And this consideration might, in turn, be hinting at Apple opening the event to in-person attendance.
The tech giant, however, is not yet expected to go back to having an entirely live keynote address. Gurman suggests that the iPhone 14 event would take on a similar format as WWDC last June. While there was a live audience, the announcement of new products was done through a pre-recorded keynote address.
iPhone 14 lineup: Is Apple still working on an iPhone mini?
Even before iPhone 13 was released last year, various established analysts and insiders claimed that Apple would no longer make a “mini” model for the iPhone 14 in 2022. And in the months leading up to the launch of this year’s iPhones, more reports have claimed that the 2022 iPhone lineup will be composed of a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a new 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
But reputable leaker Evan Blass reported on Sunday (via 91Mobiles) that a “top-tier” Apple partner in the Asia-Pacific regions has started making mockup promo pages for the iPhone 14 series. And Blass stated that the mockups include a promo for iPhone 14 mini, while the report did not mention iPhone 14 Max.
Blass pointed out that this particular partner is “one of Apple’s largest distributors” in the Asia-Pacific, making it likely for this company to have some basic information on the upcoming devices.
