PhD Candidate in the School of International Relations at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses are the use of force by minor powers, the use of drones by minor powers and nonstate actors, and African security issues. His doctoral thesis tests hypotheses and interrogates assumptions surrounding the drivers for military interventions by minor powers.
Marcel works with Dr. Mateja Peter as a Researcher for PeaceRep’s Global Fragmentation project, with a focus on studying external influence in the Horn of Africa.
Marcel holds a MSc in Global Security from the University of Glasgow, where he graduated with distinction.
