Jo is a Professor of Organisation Studies at Birmingham Business School and Deputy Director of Research for the College of Social Sciences. She undertakes research on careers and is particularly interested in the effect of age, gender, ethnicity and class on people's careers. She has recently completed a British Academy funded study examining the career pipeline for women in engineering and current research projects include an examination of women's experiences of retirement and a study of inclusivity in the MoD workforce.
